The day began like any other day. The kids and I had just finished running some errands and stopped at Kandi's house to drop some things off. Suddenly Daisy comes up with her eyes watering and says, "Mom! I put a penny in my nose and I can't get it out!" I was thinking she can't be serious. Kandi grabbed a flashlight and looked up Daisy's nose. And there it was. A dime shoved clear up her little nostril. Kandi went to get some tweezers and I had Daisy lay down. She started to cry when it hurt and she was scared. I was telling her to hold still or we would have to go to the doctor and that would hurt even more. Her sobbing caused her to suck the dime even further up her nose until we couldn't see it. I called the clinic. They told me to take her to the ER. So off we went. I have never been to the Emergency Room before and Daisy was totally freaking out. By the time we got to the hospital she had settled down for the most part, but she wouldn't let the doctor come near her with any of his little tools. So he had to sedate her. That part was a little creepy. She was laying on the gurney totally non responsive but her eyes were wide open staring at the ceiling. She looked dead. Finally I asked Doc to close her eyes for me. After she was sedated he removed the dime. He couldn't believe how far up her nose it was. He gave it to me for a little keepsake. Just what I wanted. He told me the sedation could last up to an hour but the attending nurse said it usually takes 15-20 minutes. So THREE HOURS later she finally came to. They had to monitor her the whole time. I was starving by the time we got out of there. As they discharged us the nurse gave Daisy some stickers and a popsicle. She thought it was a great time. Me, not so much.

That's scary it took Daisy so long to wake up. I would have been nervous too. Brooklyn had to be put to sleep while she had 4 mini root canals and 4 crowns put on. Yeah, your probably thinking do you feed her straight sugar?!! But, it was strange for me to see her lifeless like that when they put her to sleep. I'm glad Daisy is ok, that's scary thing for a little girl. I wonder what possess kids to stick things up there noses?! It will be a great story to embarrass her with someday!
I was just looking at your slide show. The picture of Levi when he just woke up with the messy hair is so dang cute! He's going to be a heart breaker! He's going to have all the girls knocking on his door, he's a cute little guy!
Sounds like you had a fun day! That is just classic! My niece stuck a carrot up her nose a few months ago and my sister had to take her to the ER too. Not to be rude, but it is kinda funny!! Oh the joys of motherhood.
Ouch...sounds kinda painful. That must have been scary for Daisy. I'm sure Acelyn would have been terrified. Poor Daisy, I'm glad they got it out.
Holy cow! Oh man why do kids do stuff like that?! Im glad shes alright. I can just see you sitting there "umm doc, is there any way you can close her eyes, its kinda freaking me out"!
OMH!! yes....for some reason kids like to put things where they don't belong...my little sis Whitney (when she was little) stuffed a Jolly Rancher wrapper up her nose! Yes...of all things!Luckily my parents got that one out. Glad all is well...not fun seeing your child like that! At least she now has a story to tell of her first (hopefully only) trip to the ER. Hope your 4th was great!
I had to watch them put Audrey out for an MRI and I told the nurses that I never wanted to see that look in her eyes again. It was like she was possessed. It was so creepy. It was definitely my least favorite part. Audrey was the opposite when it came to coming back from sedation. They told us it would take the better part of a day and it really took her less than half an hour to be her normal crazy self. I'm glad Daisy is okay
You should feel lucky that this is her 1st visit. She has made it this far without having to visit that lovely place. I agree with the whole sedation issue. I know it is the best for kids, but it is so hard to watch! I am glad it all turned out well though.
