Country in the Air at the County Fair!

The county fair is always a big deal for the Dansie Family Circus.  But this year it was even a bigger deal because we decided to do show lambs.  We got the lambs in May and worked with them all summer long teaching them to lead and walking them for practice.  The week of the fair finally came. 

 We bought our lamb from the Holt family in Delta.  Excellent choice.  They were so great to work with.  They helped us every step of the way.  Hailey came over the week of the fair to shear our lambs and get them ready for the fair.

 Then she came to the Livestock Show to coach Daisy on how to show her lamb in the ring and gave her tips on what the judge would be looking for.

 Both Daisy and her lamb looked great.  All of her hard work all summer long paid off!

 Dad gave Daisy some encouragement as she was getting ready to go into the show ring.

 There were lots of lambs competing this year.

 Her lamb was selected for the Championship Class!

 Levi showed his lamb in the peewee division.  He did great for his first time in the show ring, and with a lamb that hadn't really broken down as easily as we had hoped.

 I think we have a future lamb-showman on our hands.

 Titus spent the entire week of the fair in his stroller.  He ate, slept, pooped, cried, and lived in the stroller.

 The day of the auction was not nearly as stressful as the day of the show.  We cleaned the lamb up one last time and got ready for the auction.  The people and businesses of our county were so generous.  It was another reminder of how blessed we are to live in this great place.

 The horse show felt so rushed after the livestock auction and all of the other events of the fair.  We were less prepared than we should have been, and Levi got bucked off right in the arena in front of the judge.  Overall it was still a good experience, and we'll remember to work a little harder next year.

 This little cowgirl was such a big helper during the fair!  I don't know what any of us would do without her.

 Jeff automatically finds himself helping with everything "fair" since I am on the Fair Board.  He told me he is retiring from the fair next year.  We'll see...

 Titus competed in the Diaper Derby this year!  Except he forgot to crawl.  Instead he just wanted to play with the other babies.  Needless to say he didn't make it into the Championship Heat, but he didn't care.

 We all loved taking a ride around the fair grounds in the "train."  It's something we look forward to every year.

 The highlight of the fair for my boys is the Demolition Derby.  This year, thanks to an amazing Derby committee, we sold out - the first time our grandstands have ever sold out.  While I've never really seen the thrill in the whole thing, it was a great show as far as derby's go.

 Isaac was loving every minute of it.

The fire department threw plastic helmets to the crowd, and Levi was proud as punch to wear the one his dad caught for him.  Titus and I called it a night before the Derby ended, and it was a perfect conclusion to another amazing fair.
