Swimming & 5K, Hooray!

Friday was the last day of Daisy's two-week-long swimming lesson session. Being able to go swimming every single day for two whole weeks was simply a dream come true. She not only loved it, she did a great job! She was the bravest one in her little 'Starfish' class. Her favorites were jumping in the pool and going under water - without plugging her nose (which was a very big deal.)
Levi came a long way during the two week session as well. We started out the first few days kicking and screaming because he couldn't get in the water. "Swimmy!" he would yell. It seemed so unfair to him that Daisy got to go swimming day after day and he never got a turn. By the end of the two weeks he and I came to enjoy our role as spectators. He would count for the kids going off the diving board, "two, free, go!" and clap when they splashed in the water.
My mom came up Friday and watched Daisy at her last swimming lesson, then Saturday morning we were off to Young Living Farm in Mona to run our first 5K! Neither of us has ever run a 5K before, and to be honest, neither of us are really runners at all. However, we have both been running for exercise for the past several months and wanted to try to finish a race. It was so much fun! The route went all through the lavender fields and was beautiful. We felt like real athletes when we got close to the finish line and there was a big crowd cheering the runners on. We can't wait to run the 5K for the Ute Stampede!

Father's Day

Daisy was looking forward to Father's Day more than Jeff because she helped pick out his gift: new saddle bags. Jeff was working that weekend so we celebrated Father's Day Saturday morning. He (yes, he) made waffles then he opened his gift. He was so excited! His last saddle bags are getting worn out. Then he was off to work. The kids and I headed to Cedar City for the weekend. I'm pretty sure Cedar City is the Promised Land. I love it there. It is so beautiful. We had such a good time. We didn't do much of anything but hang out, which is how I like it best. Saturday we went to lunch at Pizza Factory (my very favorite) then went to the Canyon Park. After we got back to my parent's house Levi serenaded us on the piano and totally cracked us up before we went for a little bike ride down to a small park near their house. We decided there that Dairy Queen was our next destination. Yum! It's a good thing there isn't a Dairy Queen anywhere near Nephi or I would have serious weight problems. Daisy determined we should eat our late-night treats in Grandpa and Grandma's travel trailer...so we did! Sunday morning before church Daisy and Levi helped Grandpa open his Father's Day gift - a new suit (that didn't fit!) After church we napped in the travel trailer and then headed home. I am so blessed with such amazing parents who love my children so much. My husband is the most amazing father and if I were more like him I would be a better person.

Galoon!

Last weekend was Dansie Family Vacation time. With the exception of Brian & Rachel who are in Ohio at dental school, Jeff's whole family got together last weekend. We left Nephi on Friday morning and went to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. The kids loved it! We watched at 3D Dinosaur movie on the giant Imax Xango screen, and there was tons of hands-on stuff for the kids to do and see. Levi loved all the big 'raars.' After the dinosaur museum we went to the Mayan at Jordan Commons in Sandy to eat dinner. Last time Jeff and I went there we weren't very impressed, but this time it was so great! The food was fantastic. Everyone loved the divers. Daisy asked me if she could jump in the water like that. After dinner we went to the hotel and everyone - all 18 of us - went swimming in the hotel pool. We had so much fun! We laughed and splashed and just enjoyed each other. Daisy even took her floaties off and waded along the edge. Saturday morning we got up and headed to Lagoon. Only Daisy called it Galoon, which I think is simply adorable. They loved all the rides, especially the train, the carousel, and Rattlesnake Rapids. Jeff and I didn't ride much of anything because we spent most of our time at the kiddie rides (oh, and I spent over an hour in line for Wicked before they closed it!) but we had a blast. After a little weekend getaway we want to vacation all summer long!

Horse for Sale

Jeff looks forward to moving cows with the Blackett's every year. He rounded up the horses Friday night and took off early Saturday morning. Around noon he called and told me he got bucked off. I found this hard to beleive since he has never been bucked off in all the years I have known him - even when he's been breaking colts. He is always able to ride it out. I found it even harder to believe because I knew he was riding Roxy - the mare I usually ride. But it was true. He got bucked off not once, but twice. His back was really sore when he got home and had a hard time moving his arms. We went to the doctor first thing Monday morning and got several x-rays taken. The diagnosis: two vertebral wedge compression fractures. Read: A broken back. No wonder he could hardly move! The result: Crazy paint mare for sale, cheap. FYI: The photo was taken back in March. Needless to say Jeff has been a little less than pleasant the last few days. He can't lift anything - not even Levi. I'm trying my best to keep him drugged up so we can all survive his recovery!
