Playing with Friends

Not a day goes by that I don't hear, "Mom, can I play my friends today?" Daisy most often asks to go play at 'their' house, but loves when they get to come here. They love to play babies, kitchen, school, and most of all, dress-ups. I get confused as they run through the house shouting, "Mom!" and I don't know if they need me or if they are talking to the 'mom' in their make-believe world. I think this 'free play' is the best kind of learning. They learn to share and use their imaginations. They learn to interact politely and take turns. They practice apologizing and forgiving. They practice making choices and finding ways to express themselves. They laugh and giggle and just play. I love watching Levi. He thinks he is just as big as Daisy. He is to the point where he actually plays with other kids instead of alongside them and their interaction cracks me up. What a great blessing to have friends and be able to play!

I used to think (before Acelyn was big enough to have friends over) that it would be more hectic having an extra child in my home. Now I think it is just the opposite because Acelyn and Aliyah actually have something to do, and don't have to ask me for stuff all of the time.

I can't wait for Brooke to have a little brother to play with and to actually play with other kids without freaking out about sharing. One day she'll figure out that she gets the toys back, right? oh well...
