Not Hiding Anymore
Although our immediate family has known for quite some time, we have decided to tell our close friends and family that I have a severe chronic neurological disorder. It started with the onset of my third pregnancy and has worsened significantly since Isaac has been born. The main symptom is this: my brain no longer works. When my healthcare provider asked if my symptoms were interfering with normal daily activities I asked what "normal" is. (Ok, I really haven't talked to my doctor...) We've come to terms with the disorder, and my older children are comfortable talking about it. In fact, Daisy tells me on a daily basis, "Mom, I think your brain is broken." Yes, Daisy, so do I, and what's more - you have this to look forward to when you become a mom. Good luck.
