Getting Old

The Young Women were running carnival-type booths at the Fourth of July festivities here in town. We were about to leave and had two tickets left, so I stepped up to the "Plinko" booth. As I took the discs from the Young Women, I said, "You know, I saw Plinko played live on the Price is Right!" The girls just looked at me, unimpressed. "Do you know what the Price is Right is?" I asked. "No," they responded simply. "I saw Bob Barker," I pronounced, certain they would ooh and aah. When they just stared at me I redundantly asked, "Do you know who Bob Barker is?" When they again said, "no," it became very clear to me that I am getting old. I guess I need to remember that the kids going into Young Women's don't even remember September 11, not to mention Bob Barker. I wonder what I'll feel like when I'm really old. No one will ever know what I'm talking about!

Natasha - don't feel bad I feel SO old most days too... 26 going on 50! Anyways, while we were home we got to go to the movies with your mom and sisters (BTW did they tell you how sad the movie was? I was a baby and cried the WHOLE movie). It was good to see them! I hope they have a good time in Ohio!

It's ok to be old. You can pass on your knowledge of winning skills on TPIR to the younger generation of those who will not be graced with the orange-painted face of Bob Barker and his calls to keep the streets clear of strays :) Consider it your gift to the world.

So sad, yet so true! Sometimes I look in the mirror and think who is that old person staring back.

Love the story. I guess that means I am old too since I too saw Bob Barker and shook his hand and saw Plinko played live. The Price is right will never be the same.
