To Grandma's House We Go

About a month ago my dad fell over 12 feet from scaffolding at work and broke his back. He is on bed rest and can't even sit down - which obviously means he can't get in a car and come visit. So...I decided to go visit them. The kids and I loaded up on Friday and headed off to spend some time with my family. My parents and sisters still live together in the house I grew up in so it is always fun to go stay and hang out. On the way down we made a pit stop at the Cheese Chalet in Beaver and bought some fresh curd cheese to take to my dad, since it is one of his favorite treats. Daisy and Levi were immediate fans of 'squeaky cheese.'

A few weeks ago my youngest sister thought it would be a great idea to buy some baby chicks. She has been raising them and sent them home with us to add to our flock of chickens. They are between down and feathers right now so they are kinda ugly, but they are growing fast. The kids were so excited to get more chickens! I'm just hoping they are all hens!
Levi loves to play Legos at Grandma's house. He builds trucks and drives them all over the place...which means we find Legos all over the house. I'm glad the Legos live at Grandma's house and not mine. The kids wanted to ride their bikes (which also live at Grandma's house) even though it was chilly and windy. They, of course, didn't even seem to notice.

Daisy and Levi got to be the special assistants in Grandma's strawberry jam operation. They got sugar everywhere! The worst part is I forgot to bring some home with me!
We went to the new Disney movie 'earth' and loved it. The kids have still been talking about all the animals and the 'beautiful world.' Afterward we ate at The Pizza Factory - my fave. I could eat the salad bar there every day and not ever get tired of it. Yum!
Everyone was a little concerned that I might go into labor while I was there, but I don't know when I'll make it down again and I'm really glad we went. I'm just grateful they live close enough that we can make a fun weekend visit.

That is really scary that your dad fell so far and broke his back!! It sounds like he will be ok, hopefully he isn't in a lot of pain. All of that strawberry jam looks so yummy! There sure is a lot of it too! I just made some, but only enough to fill 4 jars. Once I have a bigger freezer, then I will have to make bigger batches. I can't believe that you are SO close to baby #3, that is so exciting!! I can't wait to find out if Daisy and Levi have a baby sister or brother. I am so excited for you guys! Good luck, and post as soon as you can after baby #3 is born!! :)

Going to Grandmas is always fun (in my case, even if she just lives down the street)! I hope that your dad gets better.....breaking you back has to be the worst thing ever. I don't think that you can ever recover from that.

Poor Zane! I too HATE legos! Stepping on them in the middle of the night while heading to the bathroom is the worst! Sounds like a fun weekend!

Audrey has that same "Born to Be Wild" t-shirt! How funny is that? When my parents saw it they said it had Audrey written all over it. I wonder what they meant by that?

It sounds like my Dad is doing a lot better than your Dad. He was in the hospital for a day. A few stints and don't raise your heart rate for a while, and see you in two weeks. I didn't know that your Dad broke his back! That is really scary. I hope he isn't on bed rest very long. That is just miserable. I laughed when I read about the cheese factory, because I always have to stop on my way through Beaver to get some curds for my Dad too. Must be a Cedar Dad thing.
