Run Baby Run

A few years ago, Jeff took me on a surprise trip to Moab for our anniversary. While we were there we saw the movie Bucket List, which we both totally loved. After being inspired by the movie, I made my own Bucket List of sorts. You know, things I just gotta do before I die.

I started running about four years ago. I've never been much of a runner. I don't know anything about technique or form. I am super slow. I know this because I have run in a few of the local 5k races...and I come in after the runners slightly ahead of the walkers. But...I lovelovelove it. I love the feeling I get when I run. In fact, I'm kind of addicted to it. So...Run A Marathon is somewhere on my Bucket List. I always thought it would be something I would do in middle age, like after my kids were grown and gone. It would be something I could get into, improve on, figure out, and finally culminate in my big marathon. But...then I saw the Utah Valley Marathon being advertised, and I decided, what the heck? I'm not pregnant, I haven't had any major health issues (like I might later on in life) and I have enough time to train. So, I registered. And then I decided I was a crazy person. And then I found a training schedule online. And I've been running like crazy. And I love it.

While I'm running, I try to think of myself as a graceful gazelle, but I run more like a sack of potatoes. What? You've never seen a sack of potatoes run? Well, it's strange, lumpy, slow and awkward...like me. But who cares what I look like or how slow I am, right? I'm going to run a marathon, and I'm totally psyched about it. Race day: June 11.

Natasha,

Good for you! Can't wait to hear about your marathon. And your right... running is addicting. I'm a nicer mom and person when I get a good run in each day. And once you complete your marathon, running a half marathon will seem like cake. I'm doing a half marathon this Saturday and training is sooo much easier because training for a full marathon requires so much more time and energy. Good luck with everything!
