Marsing's Ranch

The only thing Jeff asked for for his 30th birthday was for me to do the Marsing's Ranch ride with him this spring. Marsing's Ranch is an old homestead in Emery County (shout out to Jana). It is a beautiful day-long ride that we do every spring. I haven't been for a few years because I have been either pregnant or nursing. Because it is not easy to get to (you can't even get a 4-wheeler in there) it has been fairly well preserved. There are several log buildings, corrals, barns, cellars and a smokehouse. It is amazing to think how hard those people had to work for everything they had. The mom, who had eight children, is buried there.

We sent the kids to Cedar City to be with my parents on Friday, then got up at 5:00 Saturday morning to head out. When we got there we got the horses ready, the saddle bags packed and started out. Soon after we started the horse I was riding (a little white mare who I had never ridden before) jumped and I came down on the back of the saddle right on my tailbone. I pretty much thought I was going to die. I kept going thinking the pain would subside. It hurt every single step. After a little while Jeff and I traded horses because Roxy is a smoother ride and I was fine. The ride was great. We didn't have any problems, it was a beautiful day, and everytime I spend time on the back of a horse it makes me think of how blessed I am.

Monday morning when I woke up I could hardly walk so I decided to go to the doctor. I explained that I came down on the saddle and then rode for eight more hours. He concluded that I displaced my coccyx (tailbone) and likely fractured my sacrum. So pretty much I am hobbling around like a cripple. I can't walk very well and it takes me forever to stand up or sit down. This means Levi knows I can't catch him when it is time to get in the tub or change his bum and he runs from me laughing. Daisy asks me every morning, "Mom, how's your bum?" Truth is it hurts like crazy and it pretty much sucks that it happened at all, but we had a great ride and it could have been a lot worse. By the way, if you ever get a chance to ride Marsing's Ranch, do it.

I'm so sorry that you hurt your tail bone. I think that is one of the most painful things to hit. I hope that it gets feeling better soon. Your pictures are cute. Tell Daisy and Levi we say Hi!

What a fun ride! I think the best places to go are the ones where you can only get to by horseback. Sorry that you got hurt though. I am proud of you for sticking it out and finishing the ride. Those tail bones take a long time to heal! I hope it starts feeling better. Very cute pictures!

First of all I want to say your blog is really cute. Second of all, I want to tell you that you were the first person I thought of when I found these two websites. I wish I'd found them a long time ago! They are way easier to change your background. You just copy and paste the html and all your sidebar info stays except anything that is just text.

Oh, and sorry about your behind! I forgot to mention that if you scroll down a long ways on the Leelou website, you will see all the designs in little swatches, rather than individually loading them up.
